Against All Odds: Industrial Action at UberEats and Others

Time and again, we hear that union organizing is impossible in the individualized platform economy. In Berlin, food delivery bike couriers are proving the opposite: from spontaneous strikes organized via WhatsApp to a self-organized canteen serving as a permanent urban hub—despite adverse conditions, worker collectives are succeeding in organizing solidarity and establishing themselves within the migrant communities that do the delivery work.
Using excerpts from an investigative documentary, we aim to provide information about the exploitative structures in the industry and present counter-strategies.
