To websiteVerena Bentele is President of the Social Association VdK Germany, Germany’s largest social advocacy organization, and Chairwoman of the Bavarian branch of the Social Association VdK. In these roles, she represents the socio-political interests of more than 2.3 million members.
Since 2021, she also serves as Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).
From 2014 to 2018, she was the Federal Government Commissioner for Matters Relating to Persons with Disabilities.
Before her political career, Verena Bentele was a highly successful elite athlete in cross-country skiing and biathlon. Among her achievements, she won 12 Paralympic gold medals and four World Championship gold medals.
