To websiteBettina Kohlrausch has been Director of the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the Hans Böckler Foundation and Professor of Social Transformation and Digitalization at the University of Paderborn (W3) since early May 2020. Prior to that, she had been a professor of the sociology of education at the University of Paderborn since April 2016, as well as a visiting professor at the German Center for Higher Education and Science Research (DZHW) and a visiting professor in the Department of the Sociology of Education at the University of Hannover. After earning her doctorate at the International Graduate School in Bremen, she worked as a research assistant at the Göttingen Institute for Sociological Research (SOFI) and completed study abroad stints at the London School of Economics and the European University Institute in Florence.
Bettina Kohlrausch is a member of the acatech HR Circle and was a member of the Enquete Commission on “Vocational Education and Training in the Digital World of Work”; she is regularly featured in national media outlets, such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Deutschlandfunk, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Her research interests lie in analyzing the significance of work and social integration, particularly the relationship between economic civil rights and attitudes toward democracy; the emergence and extent of anti-democratic attitudes (including in a European comparison); the analysis of gender inequalities regarding the distribution of care work and paid work; and the analysis of social inequality.
